| Rural Development In Bangladesh - Composition. |
Rural development means development of village areas . Bangladesh is a land of villages . Actually , more than 80 percent of her people live in villages . So , the importance of villages in our economy is great . The development of the whole country depends on the rural development.
In our country rural development has various aspects . The most important of them are agriculture , education , communication , sanitary and health , cottage industries , fishery , co - operative society , development of community life etc.
Firstly , a good communication is essential for the development of the villages which is call rural development . For this , our government has taken some measures . Many new roads have been constructed and many old roads and bridges have been repaired . Nowadays buses , auto rickshaws , trucks , cars , rickshaws etc can move in the rural areas . So , today farmers can send their products to towns and cities quickly .
Secondly , education is the backbone of rural development . Without education a nation cannot prosper . It is education which broadens our outlook and removes the darkness of ignorance . About 85 % percent of her population lives in the villages . They do not know how to read and write . We cannot reach the peak of progress until we remove the curse of illiteracy . Our government is trying to remove the curse of illiteracy within a very short time . So, we should ensure 100% education for rural development.
Thirdly , Bangladesh is an agricultural country . Agriculture is the heart of her economy . About eighty percent of our people are engaged in agriculture . Agriculture mainly develops in villages . So if we want to make sure our rural development we should make insure to focus on agriculture. Even in this modern scientific age our agriculture is very backward . But at present it is very happy news that our government has taken active steps for the progress of agriculture . For example , government is now supplying the farmers with modern scientific tools , seeds , fertilizers etc at a cheaper rate . They also provide agricultural loans on easy terms .
Fourthly , as most of the villagers are illiterate , they have no knowledge of health and sanitation . So , most of the villagers suffer from various diseases . But this miserable condition is changing gradually . Many hospitals , health centres , clinics etc have been set up in the rural areas .
Fifthly , pure drinking water was very limited in the past . People used to drink unsafe water from ponds , canals and rivers . As a result , they often suffered from many water borne diseases . Nowadays every village has many deep tubewells .
Sixthly , cottage industries can be a way of rural development . Unemployed people can earn a decent living through it . The cottage industries can provide employment to a large number of people .
Seventhly , by raising poultry and cultivating fish , rural people can improve their condition . The villagers are given loan on easy terms . Today many unused watery lands have been brought under fish cultivation .
In this way our country will develop one day . Let us work for the development of our villages because Bangladesh will survive if the villages become developed .
